you made me feel like i asked the sky to be anything but blue
as if i expected water to not fit the shape of the glass.
you acted like i put my hand up towards the sun to block its rays and said “we don’t need you.”
as if i asked wind to reveal itself
and rain to be dry
and dirt to be clean
and thunder be shy.
it was a simple ask.
but don’t you worry; i won’t ask you for anything ever again.
